Matteo Russo was born in Crotone on the 15th October 1992.
He studied Arts and Drama at the University of Bologna.
Together with some colleagues, he founded a group named “Hi, Toys videoproject” in 2011 with the purpose to get involved in the audiovisual production world.
He produced several works in few years which led him to succeed in some Italian movie festivals.
His first real experience in cinema was in 2014 when he collaborated as director assistant to the production of the movie “Confusi e felici” directed by Massimiliano Bruno.
After this first experience, Matteo produced “Appesi ad un senza filo” a short-film written by Giacomo di Simone. This work guaranteed him the final at the “Tracce Cinematografiche” film festival in Nettuno (Rome – Italy.).
The short-movie “Position”, realized in 2013, also assured Matteo Russo the final at the “Corto in Accademia” film festival in Macerata (Italy).
Matteo’s two biggest piece of work are “Voglia di fragola” written by Emilio Maria Costa and “Storia di una donna che amava suo figlio”, written, produced and directed by himself. Both works were realized in 2015.
