It is a mountain range of the Southern Apennines , on the border between Basilicata and Calabria. It has one of the highest peaks in southern Italy , covered with snow for large periods of the year. From its peaks over  2200 meters high above sea level, the Tyrrhenian coasts of Maratea, Praia a Mare and Belvedere Marittimo to the west, the Ionian coast from Sibari to Metaponto to the east are easily captured by the naked eye. Pollino is a real mountain, impressive , where nature has had the upper hand over man.
