The town situated on a hill 240 meters above the Ionian Sea and behind the pre-Calabrian Serre, reminds one of a medieval village characterized by a Byzantine structure with numerous churches and alleys. The church of the Immaculate Virgin with a granite doorway and the works of Neapolitan and local artists, the houses built close to each other with the local clay bricks and the doors and windows  chestnut wood give the village the features of a small nativity scene.
